Photon.Net Radio - Listening Instructions
|
|
There are 2 options for connecting to a broadcast:
1)If your web browser is configured for streaming MP3s, you can click on the "listen" buttons on the radio home page or any other page on the site where a "listen" button or link occurs. Your web browser should launch an MP3 player and start playing the internet radio station.
2)If the "listen" links aren't working for you, you can open the audio source stream directly from your MP3 player (such as WinAmp, iTunes, Quicktime, Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, or other MP3 player compatible with streaming MP3s. To connect directly to the source stream, you will need to open the URL (link) in your MP3 player. Each of the radio channels on our network has a URL associated with it. For example:
Dolphinville Radio: http://audio.photon.net:8000/dolphinville-radio.m3u
The Cetacean Station: http://audio.photon.net:8000/dolphinville-radio.m3u
You would use the "Open" command from the menu of your MP3 player, and type in (or paste) the URL as seen above starting with http://. Each MP3 player operates differently -- sometimes the "open" command for URLs is called "Open Source" or "Open Stream" or "Open Host".
NOTE: For best quality, if you are on a regular dial-up connection, do not actively use any other internet applications in the background (such as web browsing, checking e-mail, etc.) while you are listening. Dedicate your internet connection to listening. This will help prevent the audio signal from cutting out if you are on a slow internet connection.
